I thunk up a few more.
"The creator apologized, stop whining about it" (said to fans who are talking amongst themselves and not tagging the creator)
As I previously mentioned, a sincere apology is a good start. It does not magically unfuck the thing, and fans of the thing are still allowed to continue discussing the fuckup amongst themselves.
An insincere apology of the sorts also previously mentioned definitely does not magically unfuck the thing.
"OK the character's significant other got killed off but THEY'RE still alive and THEY'RE still gay and they've been gay the whole time so it's not like you didn't get your representation, gawd!"
Please take a few moments to think about what kind of message it sends when the only way a gay character can survive all the way through a bit of media is to have their significant other killed off and to spend the rest of the story alone. Think about the message it sends when this keeps happening, over and over, in shows and books and movies and games and and and. How would you like it if half of every straight couple got killed off and the survivor was never allowed to have another love interest? That'd really be the shits, wouldn't it? Okay then.
"UGH THERE'S TOO MUCH ROMANCE IN MEDIA ANYWAY WHY CAN'T THEY JUST BE PLATONIC"
While you kinda do have a point about how it seems like every character everywhere has to get paired off with someone whether it makes sense to the story or not, I'm gonna respectfully ask you to SAVE THAT FOR THE STRAIGHT COUPLES INSTEAD OF SHITTING ALL OVER THE FEW CANON SAME-SEX COUPLES WE GET.
